Lead Data Architect – Kafka & PySpark
We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Architect to join our AIA team and help design, build, and scale distributed systems for our banking clients. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Kafka, Python, Java, Postgres and PySpark. You will play a strategic role, guiding application teams and contributing to the technical roadmap of our client’s enterprise-grade systems.

In this role, you will:
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable data architectures using Kafka, Python, Java, Postgres and PySpark.
- Oversee the development of data pipelines and ensure their efficiency and reliability.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the development team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure the integration of data systems with existing infrastructure.
- Monitor and optimize system performance to meet business needs.
- Develop and maintain documentation for data architecture and processes.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Work closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet their needs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.
What you’ll need to succeed (required skills):
- Must have 8+ years of extensive experience with Kafka Python and PySpark.
- Should have a strong understanding of data architecture principles and best practices.
- Must possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Should have experience in developing and optimizing data pipelines.
- Must have strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Should be able to work effectively in a hybrid work model.
- Must be proactive and able to work independently.
- Should have a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Must be able to mentor and guide junior team members.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in our client’s office in Toronto.
