Junior Network Analyst – Term

We are hiring a Junior Network Analyst to join our Infrastructure Services team. This position requires you to be within the Halifax Regional Municipality or Nova Scotia Region.

NOTE: This is a term role until 12/22/2025.

Key elements of this role include:

1.   Site / Technical Documentation:

  • Collaborate with the networking team and our Managed Service Provider to maintain accurate and up-to-date site documentation.
  • Document network equipment, configurations, and physical layouts.
  • Assist in creating and updating network diagrams and schematics.
  • Work with the ITSM application, Network Monitoring tools and Network Management tools to update information.

2.    Asset Management:

  • Track and manage networking assets, including routers, switches, access points, and cables.
  • Maintain an inventory of hardware and software components.
  • Assist in asset audits and ensure compliance with asset management policies.
  • Update and verify information contained within the ITSM Application

3.    Physical Surveys:

  • Visit NSPI sites within the province to conduct physical surveys.
  • Inspect network infrastructure, identify any issues, and document findings.
  • Collaborate with field technicians to assess cabling, equipment placement, and environmental factors.

4.     Wireless Surveys:

  • Conduct wireless site surveys to assess signal strength, coverage, and interference.
  • Use specialized tools to measure wireless performance and identify optimal access point placement.
  • Provide recommendations for improving wireless connectivity.
  • Upload and config wireless survey data into the management platform

5.    Travel:

  • Be prepared for occasional travel to NSPI sites across the province.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan survey trips efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with travel policies and safety guidelines.

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant post-secondary program (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Electrical Engineering).
  • Strong interest in networking, wireless technology, and site documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, equipment, and troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver’s license (required for travel).
