Your Impact as a IT Technical Support Analyst
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Information Technology, this IT Technical Support Analyst position is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the various Microsoft Services deployed at PVSC (Microsoft 365 including Entra, Teams and SharePoint; device deployment tools; as well as new and emerging technologies from Microsoft such as Copilot).
A key priority and focus on this position will be to develop a roadmap to modernize the workstation image management process to simplify and streamline the deployment of computers to the remote first workforce across the province. This position will work closely with the business users, to identify opportunities to integrate the various Microsoft tools into the day-to-day business processes and provide coaching and training on how best to use the tools for maximum productivity and efficiency.
In addition, you will provide regular administration and Tier 2 support for common IT Services such as printers, networks, antivirus, audio/video support, and will be a key back up for cyber security services.
This position is required to work with internal divisions at PVSC, as well as existing and potential new vendors, and must possess sound judgement, excellent communication, and organizational navigation skills. This position needs to be able to plan for today as well as the future. The ability to conduct research and absorb information and translate into the PVSC context is critical.
How You Will Contribute
Technical Support
– Manages all IT activities associated with onboarding and off boarding of PVSC employees.
– Administers day-to-day IT end user support to IT devices and peripherals.
– Initiates provision access and administer support to workplace productivity tools and applications.
– Maintains user administration and configuration related tasks.
– Manages initial contact with business application vendors.
– Ensures incidents or requests are updated.
– Participates in IT testing activities.
– Supports the year-end activities for the annual delivery of the filed roll.
– Staff Training
– Delivers orientation and training on commonly used operating systems and technology.
– Conducts training when significant changes occur with existing technologies.
IT Procurement & Asset Management
– Orders end user devices and coordinates purchase of software.
– Ensures the appropriate level of inventory is maintained for frequently used items.
People & Relationships
– Builds productive working relationships with vendors, managers, co-workers, and clients.
– Communicates and translates technical information to non-technical audiences.
– Performs other related duties and participates in other activities, as assigned.
What You Bring
You will possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering; or have graduated from a recognized Information Technology program and have one (1) year related experience; or have an acceptable combination of relevant training and work experience.
You will also have the following skills or experience:
– Demonstrated prioritization skills, sound judgement, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
– Proven knowledge of day to day IT operational support.
– Ability to manage various tasks while maintaining deadlines under pressure with a strong attention to detail.
– Knowledge of desktop hardware, software, printers, windows desktop operating systems, iOS, and Microsoft productivity tools.
– Ability to work with support tools such as remote PC management, anti-virus, and incident management tools.
– Knowledge of IT procurement with end user devices, software, peripherals, and CMDB.
– Independent self-starter with the ability to operate at a high level with general direction.
– Proven experience working within IT projects.
– Strong willingness and initiative to learn new technologies.
– Maintains a high level of knowledge and awareness of computer industry trends by attending training courses, seminars, and general reading.
Assets
– Previous experience in a service desk or field support role.
– Foundation certificate in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
Special Requirements
– This role requires occasional travel throughout the province and requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
