Position Summary:

The IT Systems Leader will work closely with the Infrastructure and software development teams and will be responsible for providing day-to-day technical support, as well as supporting, administering, analyzing, and testing various IT technologies and solutions, both hardware and software. This role requires a curious, inquisitive, and proactive person with good communication skills who shows initiative and seeks opportunities to continuously expand their area of understanding.

Technical Competencies:

  • Experience building, maintaining and upgrading hardware IT infrastructure.
  • A keen ability to learn new software applications and have a passion for technology.
  • Experience with Virtualization ( VMs ) and system imaging.
  • Degree/Diploma in IT, computer science, or engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must understand network concepts and configuration for protocols like DNS and DHCP
  • Proficiency with Windows group policies, powershell would be an asset
  • Familiarity with email management systems
  • Experience with any of the following: firewalls, Vlans, VPN configuration, Virtualization, cisco command line, NAS/SAN, and PDQ Software would be preferred
  • FTP and bash scripting would be good to know
  • Strong experience in hardware & network management
  • Experience using active directory
  • Linux command line experience essential
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot VPN clients, troubleshooting issues to remote staff
  • Currently holding or ability to obtain Canadian Government security clearances.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
  • Replace and upgrade defective or outdated components when necessary.
  • Install, configure, update and maintain the in house IT infrastructure.
  • Attend IT requests in a timely and effective manner and communicate the progress of longer tasks.
  • Document solutions and changes to IT infrastructure.
  • Manage the configuration and operation of employee computer operating systems
  • Monitor system logs and metrics and respond immediately to security or usability issues
  • Create, verify and maintain regular backups of data.
  • Configure and maintain the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications.
  • Upgrade IT systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.
  • Administer networks and infrastructure, including firewalls, databases, malware protection software and other processes.
  • Participate in the development of technical documents relating to IT systems.
  • Willing to participate as part of a team on call rotation for IT service and support.
  • IT Security Minded & Knowledge of NIST, Controlled Goods, TISAX would be beneficial

Other Requirements: The candidate must currently possess or be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance (Secret Level) and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
