Information Systems Security Risk Analyst

About the role

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Security Specialist with strong technical expertise in cybersecurity risk management, security controls implementation, and compliance. The successful candidate must be familiar with ITSP.10.171 and able to apply its guidance to the design, assessment, and enhancement of secure information systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational assets.


Key Responsibilities
Security Governance & Compliance

  • Interpret and apply the requirements and guidance outlined in ITSP.10.171, ensuring alignment with organizational security policies and risk management frameworks.
  • Support compliance initiatives related to national and organizational IT security standards, guidelines, and directives.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, assessments, and security reviews.

Risk Management & Security Architecture

  • Conduct security risk assessments of IT systems and infrastructure in accordance with recognized frameworks and ITSP.10.171 methodologies.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate security safeguards and mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of secure solution architectures and technical designs.

Security Operations

  • Respond to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats when required
  • Advise on technical security controls such as identity and access management, encryption, network protections, and system hardening.
  • Review and maintain relevant security documentation, including security plans, threat assessments, and standard operating procedures.

Collaboration & Advisory

  • Work closely with IT, compliance, and business units to ensure secure system development and operational practices.
  • Provide guidance and training on security best practices, policies, and ITSP.10.171 requirements.
  • Communicate technical risks and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ITSP.10.171 and its application in IT security programs.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT risk management, or IT security operations.
  • Experience with security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-53, ITSG-33, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with network security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Experience in government, defense, or regulated environments.
  • CEH, Security+, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with secure system lifecycle processes, threat modeling, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, ISSAP, ISSEP, ISSMP or CISM

Pay Transparency

Salary Range

$86,500 – $113,500
