Director of IT & Security – Nova Leap Health Corp.

Director of IT & Security

Nova Leap Health Corp.

Build with purpose. Safeguard with vision. Drive transformation.

Nova Leap Health Corp. is passionate about independence, innovation, and improving lives. As a publicly traded home care leader operating in communities across Canada and the United States, Nova Leap enables seniors to age with dignity, while holding itself to the highest standards of privacy, data security, and digital excellence.

Now, Nova Leap is ready for the next step: uniting its operations under a shared, resilient technology vision. The company is seeking a hands-on, future-focused Director, IT & Security to orchestrate this transformation, a critical new leadership role based in the company’s head office in Halifax, NS.

Nova Leap is searching for a builder, a strategic architect eager to shape the digital backbone of a mission-driven company. Reporting to the CFO and collaborating with operational leaders across North America, the Director will chart IT strategy, uplift cybersecurity, and champion innovation, balancing high-level vision with real-world execution.

What you’ll do:

  • Blueprint and secure Nova Leap’s end-to-end IT infrastructure, spanning Canadian and U.S. operations.
  • Lead the charge on cybersecurity, crafting strategies, managing risk, and embedding compliance with HIPAA, PHIA, and emerging regulations.
  • Optimize cloud and collaboration environments, including a newly unified Microsoft 365 tenant, ensuring robust controls and seamless teamwork.
  • Spearhead digital transformation initiatives, from automation to AI, unlocking greater efficiency and redefining care delivery.
  • Create and enforce forward-thinking IT and AI policies, aligning technology with Nova Leap’s values of privacy, ethics, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with operations and finance to deliver technology roadmaps that scale with company growth, including driving IT diligence and seamless integration during acquisitions.
  • Nurture a culture of innovation and continuous learning, beginning with employee cybersecurity training and the mentoring of future IT talent.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, translating complex risks into clear, actionable strategy.

What you bring:

  • A proven track record (8-10+ years) in IT leadership roles, balancing strategy and technical depth, cybersecurity expertise, and successful transformation in regulated, multisite environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365, cloud infrastructure (Azure or similar), and the realities of healthcare or highly regulated sectors.
  • Hands-on experience crafting policies and deploying leading-edge solutions, from risk management to AI and data analytics.
  • Outstanding communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a builder mentality; you thrive in growth environments and are eager to build and shape an IT department from the ground up without relying on large-team handoffs.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Microsoft Security Administrator are highly valued.
  • A collaborative, respectful style, you listen, you lead, and you bring out the best in cross-functional teams.

Why this role matters:

This is more than an IT leadership position, it is an opportunity to shape the future of care using technology, security, and innovation as levers for progress across North America. Nova Leap Health is seeking a director who sees beyond systems, who believes at their core that smart technology can change lives, and who is ready to leave a lasting mark on a company, and a sector in transformation. If you’re ready to build secure, scalable, and high-impact solutions in a company that’s on the rise, we want to hear from you.
