We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

  • The Wholesale Finance IT Business Analysis/Quality Engineering Director is responsible for analysis and testing of software solutions in support of both Capital Market programs, as well as the leading the BA/QA Function for Wholesale Finance Technology.
  • Across both programs and products, this role will earn the trust of our business partners, exceed their expectations, and create value.
  • This role will not only seek to understand our business partner’s needs but will evaluate, integrate, and support innovative technologies, while also leveraging existing technology investments.
  • This role will establish strategic direction for analysis, aligned to each program and product and be accountable for its execution.
  • This role will partner with Capital Markets resources as well as partner IT groups to ensure clear communication, issue triage execution and alignment of expectations.
  • This role will require successful experience working in fast-paced, complex Capital Markets business, with an advanced understanding of the role Capital Markets performs.
  • This role needs to demonstrate advanced knowledge and ability in Business Analysis of Capital Markets (products), and Quality Engineering, and should be able to apply the competency in new or complex situations.
  • The Director is responsible to manage people allocations and provide oversight across all projects within the group.
  • The role is accountable to build the capabilities of the QE and BA teams by identifying, recruiting, and retaining talent, and by mentoring and coaching BAs across technical and professional capabilities.
  • The role covering the Wholesale Finance business line requires extensive relationship management, team leadership and technical skills.
  • The ability to work across groups with differing priorities and opinions requires excellent communications and diplomatic skills, as well as the drive to get things done.

What will you do?

  • Partner with the Wholesale Finance business teams to understand business strategies and support resource planning activities.
  • Lead the requirements discussions for large/complex Wholesale Finance initiatives and help define the roadmap.
  • Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs continually exploring and assessing options for value-add for clients.
  • Together with Program Delivery and Development teams, determines best mix of development, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives.
  • Key voice to the business on the application, roadmap initiatives, annual initiative planning and escalation point for the business development/project related issues.
  • Participate and review requirements effort estimation at the portfolio level
  • Forecast and manage QE and BA resource needs for the portfolio
  • Resolve requirements conflicts and issues between projects as escalated by the team
  • Sets the overall strategic direction for analysis documentation/test execution and implements a plan to support that strategic direction.
  • Contributes to setting the overall strategic direction for Finance IT including reviewing and approving data ingestion, exception processing and data exposure related to Wholesale Finance function.
  • Contributes to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Ensures that strong analysis and testing disciplines are applied to all work in order to enable RBC’s competitiveness.
  • Ensures that analysis and test planning produced is thorough, effective and clear and effectively communicated to business partners and stored for future use.
  • Provides senior management with timely and transparent information with respect to analysis/testing status, program direction and individual program updates.
  • Lead, coach and develop highly skilled and diverse IT professionals.
  • Motivate and challenge to create high performing collaborative teams necessary to deliver effective financial solutions.
  • Establish quarterly expectations and provide constructive feedback using Workday review framework.
  • Succession planning
  • Demonstrable experience managing large teams of business analysts and quality engineers towards a common goal.
  • Ensure that employees understand RBC vision, as well as support and reinforce targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals
  • Manage performance through regular coaching discussions, while providing transparency on where the employees are at from a ratings perspective
  • Leverage the value in unit, department, and enterprise wide teams to develop better solutions and achieve a cross enterprise mindset
  • Ensure BA and QE teams’ performance meets or exceeds business expectations
  • Exemplify good interpersonal skills in listening, mediation, influencing and conflict resolution

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in working as a Business Analyst, preferable BA lead working experience, with progressively increasing responsibilities in the areas of requirements management on large and complex projects
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in testing activities
  • Minimum 3 years of People Management experience
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Agile delivery, including tools and techniques for requirement decomposition.
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets products
  • Advanced knowledge and proven experience in requirements planning and prioritization including stakeholder analysis and effort-estimation.
  • Advanced knowledge and proven experience with requirements elicitation techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of MSWord, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Access
  • Undergraduate degree and/or post-graduate degree, preferable in Mathematics, Engineering, Business or Finance

 

Nice-to-have

  • Understanding of Product Control function
  • Hands-on experience with data sourcing and mappings to cover major Capital Market products
  • Tableau/Python/SQL
