Key Responsibilities
As part of the Data Science Team you will:
- Solve problems in the maritime sector combining novel models and AI with vessel location data and environmental data.
- Employ statistical techniques and advanced data analysis methods, including artificial intelligence methodologies, to interpret data effectively
- Create models and perform testing and validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data/model strategies tailored to specific project requirements
- Create reports to share your findings and recommendations with the internal team and other stakeholders
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Physics, Geomatics, Data Science or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- 2+ years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating machine learning models and/or data analytics solutions
- 2+ years of experience working with geospatial data, graph data, and relational databases
- 2+ years of experience writing production-ready code for data-intensive computation and analysis using python
- Strong SQL skills
- Strong familiarity with python data science libraries
- Strong familiarity with python geospatial libraries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work and learn autonomously, take direction from leads, and actively contribute to help improve technical and organizational processes
- Strong attention to detail including clear, concise and thorough documentation skills
- Ability to listen and develop a deep understanding of project, product and client requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Beneficial Experience and Qualifications
- Experience working with real-time data and model/frameworks (e.g., Flink, Spark)
- Experience deploying models with AWS cloud infrastructure
- Experience in maritime and/or ocean technology sector
Comments/Special Considerations
Candidates must pass a criminal background check and be able to obtain Controlled Goods clearance.
Work can be done remotely in Canada, if located in the Halifax area a hybrid working environment is available to employees.
