Data Scientist

Position Description:

CGI in Atlantic Canada is seeking a passionate and skilled Data Scientist to join our growing team in Halifax. This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of Canada’s largest IT and business consulting firms, where you’ll help clients unlock the power of data through advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI. As a Data Scientist, you will design and implement data-driven solutions that solve complex business problems, automate processes, and generate actionable insights. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and leverage cutting-edge technologies to deliver impactful results.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries, data models, and performance tuned databases across multiple storage systems.
• Build and maintain end to end data pipelines using Azure Databricks, MongoDB, Gremlin DB, Azure Blob Storage, and related technologies.
• Implement and manage backup, recovery, redundancy, and data governance practices to ensure high data reliability.
• Develop and deploy ML workflows in Azure Databricks with MLflow, and integrate systems through API based data ingestion.
• Support automation and DevOps initiatives using Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines for data and analytics solutions.
• Create high quality data visualizations using tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Power BI, and Tableau to support analysis and decision making.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. University Degree / bachelor’s degree.
. Strong hands-on experience with SQL for managing databases, writing complex queries, and performance tuning.
. Experience with end-to-end data pipelines with Azure Databricks, MongoDB, Gremlin DB, and Azure Blob Storage, etc. to accurately extract and interpret data
. Knowledge of backup, recovery, and redundancy strategies.
. Experience with Azure Databricks and MLflow
. DevOps: Knowledge of Azure DevOps.
. Experience with APIs
. Ability to work with data visualization tools (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Power BI, Tableau, etc).

Assets

. Experience with workflows and coordination across documents and able to maximize automation.
. Experience with Azure AI Foundry.
. Experience with LLM models for optimized inference (quantization, batching).
. Experience with automated document parsing.
. A completed college diploma or university degree in related field
. Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.
. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000.00–$125,000.00. This role is an existing vacancy.
