Job Summary

What is the Opportunity

We are in the process of maturing our ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and service mapping is part of taking it to the next level. Service mapping will enable successfully planned changes and contribute to efficiently managed incidents in the environment along with maintaining an accurate CMDB.

The Service Mapping/Discovery Analyst will play a critical role in the service mapping process and will be responsible for administrative functions related to ServiceNow Discovery as well build and maintain accurate application service models.

What will you do?

  • Developing and maintaining service models by working directly with the application subject matter experts and mapping out their infrastructure components. Then build relationships between the model and the business capabilities and services.
  • Designing of Signature (Pattern-Based) Service models with a unique signature to identify a product software component, including our custom built applications.
  • Responsible for the discovery data in the global IT environment, including the managing of new subnets and v-centers as well as analysis of CI discovery issues.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Existing ServiceNow System Administrator experience or equivalent role, understanding the way ServiceNow is designed and configured (relationships tables).
  • Experience identifying, investigating, and resolving Discovery issues with working knowledge of UNIX server, Windows server, and network gear.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking including TCP/IP ports and firewalls, network protocols, IP networks, subnetting, and network devices, and virtualization environments configurations, i.e. – Hyper-V, VMware.
  • In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow reconciliation process and identifying the frameworks that are related to ServiceNow mapping.
  • In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow discovery patterns and scripts, especially PowerShell and JavaScript.
  • Experience with Application Service Mapping.

Nice-to-have

  • Familiar with the Common Services Data Model.
  • Familiar with Application configurations i.e., Middleware, MQ, DB2, SQL, IIS, Storage, clustering, etc…
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certified.
