Together, we strive to create a community of inclusivity that ultimately encourages all people to own their ambition, break down barriers, and unleash their superpowers. The Wonder Women conference was started to empower those who have historically been denied equitable access to spaces and opportunities in the professional world. This most certainly includes those who identify outside of the gender binary. Tech Wednesdays with NPower Canada

About this event More than 80% of NPower Canada alumni secure employment or enroll in higher education within 6 months of graduating, with 30-40% already placed into jobs upon completing training. Graduates launch digital careers in roles such as Help Desk Agent, Data Analyst, QA / Tester and Business Systems Analyst with companies like TELUS, Accenture and CIBC. NPower Canada is a registered charity launching individuals 18 + (with no maximum age) into meaningful digital careers. NPower Canada's virtually delivered programs provide participants with 15 weeks of no-cost, part-time tech skills training, including industry certifications, complemented by employability skills coaching and wraparound supports (including bus pass, interview clothing and laptops/WiFi based on financial need). Program participants are also connected directly with employers, job retention supports and five years of alumni services including continued education and mentorship. Candidates do not need any prior background in tech to apply. They must have completed their high school, Dogwood or GED, and be eligible to work in Canada. NPower Canada prioritizes serving lower-income, un/underemployed individuals, female-identified, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, newcomers and people with disabilities.

Acadia Institute for Data Analytics – Deep Learning Workshop

Welcome to the Acadia Institute for Data Analytics - Deep Learning Workshop! This workshop will provide a gentle hands-on introduction to developing predictive models using deep learning artificial neural networks. We will provide a high-level overview of the key elements of neural networks and deep learning, and recent advances that allow deep networks to solve challenging problems such as object recognition in images (e.g. classification of animal or letter) and sequence prediction (e.g. next word in a sentence, like Google auto-complete). Participants will get to build their own deep models using prepared software (Keras and Tensorflow) working in the browser. All code needed will be provided, however programming experience is prerequisite. You will need a laptop or desktop with the latest version of the Chrome browser, and a Google account for using Google Drive. Objectives: To provide a hands-on workshop (using your own laptop) that is fun and informative for participants. Covers 500-foot fundamentals of neural networks and deep learning (MLP, CNN, LSTM) using popular python programming libraries.
