Future of Work Series: Cybersecurity Skills Gap and the War for Diverse Talent

TECHNATION has recently launched a compelling Future of Work Series. The first event was held in June to address Re-imagining the Digital Workplace Post-Pandemic event in June 2021. This series was designed to guide us back to work post-pandemic by leveraging the insights of both national and global thought leaders. On December 8, 2021, we will host the next event in this series entitled, “Cybersecurity Skills Gap and the War for Diverse Talent” Cybersecurity is an area of strategic importance for virtually every business in Canada and attraction and retention of top talent is becoming increasingly competitive. TECHNATION will feature compelling industry leaders and security subject matter experts who will provide context on this pressing issue as well as present the latest reports, program successes, case studies, best practices and concrete solutions. Security is becoming an increasingly complex field of expertise and it is critical to have diversity in perspective, skills and experience. This event will showcase some of the top Canadian security leaders (both in industry and government) who will share their insights and advice as we strive to address the cyberskill challenge and to identify alternative pathways to diverse talent.

This is being driven by a combination of government policies to address climate change, supply chain requirements and investor, customer and employee preferences. Atlantic Canadian businesses need to understand the role that clean technology adoption can play in ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of their business. This session will feature a panel of speakers, including some businesses that have adopted clean technology. They’ll share what technology they adopted, their motivations for adopting, the benefits of adopting, and lessons learned. APEC’s Fred Bergman will discuss why clean technology is important and some of the statistics on adoption. Lynn Adams, Director of Energy and Environment Policy, ACOA will discuss government supports for clean technology adoption. There will be a short Q&A period following the presentations. What is tech{LAB}? tech{LAB} is a FREE workshop that allows participants to get hands-on with new technology! These workshops are for anyone ages 8 and up who have an interest in technology, prototyping, or electronics. Bring a laptop if you have one! These workshops are run on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, from 3 PM-4 PM. What Happens at tech{LAB}?
