This is the third webinar in their Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) webinar series, with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC). In today’s society, personal information is collected and used extensively, by individuals and organizations, for a variety of reasons. When it comes to marketing, communications management and advertising, we make use of numerous third part tools and devices to achieve our goals and to make it easier to both plan and manage marketing campaigns. Have we thought about the implications this could have on data privacy, and do we really understand our obligations? Do you know if you are absolved of responsibility if a service provider you use has a data breach at their end? This presentation by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada will explore the privacy issues surrounding advertising and marketing and provide businesses with useful information on this important privacy topic. Content will be relevant and important for individuals across different roles in companies of all sizes and across all industries.

We all know the advantages of a bar chart instead of a table full of numbers. The bigger your dataset, the greater the value of seeing it visually and being able to pinpoint both broad and specific critical areas for decisions. Scientific visualization of large datasets can be applied across a number of areas, including engineering, material science, sensor/drone data, geospatial, and life sciences. Join them at this session to learn about powering up innovation with supercomputing, and using scientific visualization to make better decisions. There are no prerequisites and no technical knowledge is needed. This session is aimed at mid to senior level managers with R&D technology responsibilities, and R&D engineering or scientific staff with no scientific visualization experience. The webinar is a precursor to the Interactive Data Analysis & Visualization with Paraview workshop below. |

Crouching Admin, Hidden Hacker: Privileged Access & the Unnoticed Masters Part 2 Are there cyberattacks that are effective, reliable, and almost always work? Of course! Even when an organization’s infrastructure is well managed, patches are regularly installed, and the network is monitored – there are hackers that still find their way quietly in; be it via a misconfiguration, social engineering, or long-forgotten privileged account. There is always a hidden hacker waiting to strike! In this webinar with hacker, pen tester, Enterprise Security MVP and cybersecurity expert, Paula Januszkiewicz, learn: What are the biggest mistakes people make in multi-cloud and infrastructure security? Can moving to the Cloud help diminish the risk of a cyber breach? And how can you measure its effectiveness? How do hackers exploit misconfigurations to gain privileged access to accounts? How to protect against ransomware, malware, APTs, and even malicious insiders with a Zero Trust approach to security. Leave this webinar with world-class tips on how to attain the next level of security in your workplace…no crouching admin necessary.

Climate change is the single greatest challenge of our time. With Canada’s climate warming twice as fast as the global average, catastrophic events such as heat waves, wildfires and floods are costing billions and putting communities and people at risk. The steps needed to reduce climate risk require transition and adaptation plans which are already well underway. To avert the worst impacts of climate change, the Government of Canada has set an ambitious climate target of 40-45% emissions reductions by 2030 and is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Public sector organizations in Canada and around the world are responding to sustainability challenges with digital and data solutions, AI, hybrid cloud, and ecosystem partnerships. But it’s not just about the data or the technology. It’s about being a catalyst for change, making the world better one community at a time. Join them as their sponsor IBM together with senior stakeholders from the federal government discuss what it will take to achieve net zero and how together we can make that happen (e.g. sustainable procurement; Canada’s Net Zero Challenge). |
