Business Unusual

The Pictou County Chamber of Commerce, with the support of several community based organizations, will present a special ONLINE event called “Business Unusual” celebrating those individuals and organizations who stood out during the initial wave of the pandemic. Not much about 2020 was normal. We all felt the changes in our lives. The Pictou County Chamber of Commerce felt it as well. So they decided it wasn’t the year to do their regular Chamber Awards evening. Instead, they decided it was about shining a light on those who have made such a huge difference to our community and beyond. We all stepped forward, supported where we could – and the honourees are a group they want to highlight, to show how we all continue to shine on, now more than ever. The PC Chamber invite you, your colleagues, and members of the community to celebrate our fellow community members online on January 28th, beginning at 7pm. Through the Advocate Group of companies, this live-stream is available free-of-charge so we encourage you to share the information with family, friends and neighbours. Be sure to reserve your free tickets for the livestream below! There is a limited amount available. Register

The untapped labour market includes people from the Black, African-Nova Scotian, Indigenous, immigrant, and persons with disabilities communities. The Accessing a Skilled Workforce Task Force has been focusing on labour market shortages, the skilled workforce and retention of our students, and thus would like to give our business community the opportunity to learn how to access underrepresented groups in their employee search, the skills, and talents they bring and why ensuring diversity, equity and inclusion matters in all workplaces. Moderated by NSCC President, Don, Bureaux, this group of experts will each speak to their perspective regarding the underutilization of those in the untapped labour market. Register
