All Things People Conference

Online

Let’s discuss what happens when startups put people first. The All Things People Conference is a virtual event designed to help anyone interested in scaling diversity and belonging put the “people” in “people operations.” People ops and HR are usually the last departments startups build. What are the most common mistakes made during the process? How does DEI fit in? VFC conducted a survey of over 1200 partner startups in 2020. While some leveraged the changes caused by Covid-19 to rebuild their organizational cultures, others struggled. Significant themes that surfaced through these changes included hiring, onboarding, and developing diverse and inclusive culture and HR policies. The All Things People Conference brings VFC's vast network together to openly and candidly chat about practical and system-shifting steps Canadian startups and innovators must take to make the most of lessons learned from this moment. Workshops led by People Operations, industry, and JEDDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Decolonization, and Inclusivity) leaders will share practical solutions and discuss the importance of integrating People Operations. Leaders, founders, and managers of small businesses and startups will gain insights and knowledge from those who have been there, done that, failed, and tried again. Ocean Frontier Institute Conference 2022

Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel 1919 Upper Water St, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Climate is at the top of the international policy agenda and is creating massive risks and opportunities in the commercial sector. Understanding the changing ocean is critical to predicting the future of climate. The ocean stores hundreds of times the heat and 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere and takes up more carbon than all the rainforests combined. Some of the most pressing global issues at the frontier of the ocean-climate nexus are achieving net zero, developing sustainable food from the ocean, and protecting ocean biodiversity. Conference delegates from industry and policy will share their visions and challenges for sustainable development of these topics over the next decade. They will motivate the next frontier of ocean research by highlighting key questions to advance the field and outline their commitments to action to make an impact on solving some of the most pressing issues at the ocean-climate nexus. Ocean Frontier Institute researchers will join the dialog and present results from their studies that contribute directly to enabling the future of critical policy and industry decisions.

INDUSTRY DAY – Government Adoption of Cloud and Intelligent Automation: Driving Change Together!

Westin Ottawa 11 Colonal By Dr, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

“Government Adoption of Cloud and Intelligent Automation: Driving Change Together!” Wednesday June 1, 2022 Scroll down to agenda… Though the economic case for government-wide adoption of Cloud was made more than a decade ago, progress in Canada remains uneven. In fact, despite considerable dialogue, adoption of Cloud remains at less than 10 per cent! TECHNATION put forward recommendations in 2015 and then again in 2019 calling on Government to accelerate Cloud adoption, prioritize in-house Cloud education and training, adopt a different operating model, and more. Unfortunately, Government remains hesitant to use leading-edge tech like Intelligent Automation to accelerate progress on delivering broader public policy objectives for Canada. That’s not to say that nothing was done; the Government of Canada did make some critical investments in digital government, which enabled it to respond quickly to citizens’ needs. But as we emerge from the pandemic, how do we ensure government continues – and accelerates – its modernization efforts to fully embrace Cloud and Intelligent Automation to deliver modern services while keeping Canadians’ information safe and secure? To help drive change, TECHNATION will bring key government leaders and industry together to address government cloud / IA / Ai adoption and its obstacles and […]
