Prior to joining Springboard Atlantic, Shelley was at Invest Nova Scotia (formerly Innovacorp) for 15 years. Her most recent position was as manager, Start-Up Yard at COVE. Start-Up Yard is the business incubator located at the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship. Previously, Shelley was manager of programs and business acceleration at Innovacorp. This workshop series is hands-on, covering the fundamentals of R, including data types, functions, importing, manipulating and analyzing data and data visualization as well as program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. The goal is to teach the practical knowledge needed to start programming, debugging and using R in everyday tasks. You do not need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented or previous programming experience but intermediate level experience with a computer is highly recommended. You do need to have a laptop with a Mac, Linux or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc) on which you have administrative privileges, as you will need to pre-load specific software packages. This workshop will take place on: Wednesday, October 18th, 1:00 - 4:30pm (Atlantic) Wednesday, October 25th, 1:00 - 4:30pm (Atlantic) Joining instructions will be provided prior to the first session.
