Kushal Shah, Patent Agent, Gowlings
Kushal Shah is a patent agent in the Intellectual Property Group of Gowlings WLG’s Ottawa office.
As an internationally trained patent agent and lawyer, Kushal has experience working with startups, universities, and multinational organizations. He has advised on obtaining patent protection related to various technologies such as artificial intelligence, mechanical devices, software engineering, cellular therapeutics, genetic engineering, biomedical devices, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals in numerous jurisdictions, including the United States, Europe, China, the Middle East, and India.
Kusahal’s past work also includes tailored IP solutions and tactical advice on infringement, litigation, licensing, patentability and freedom to operate opinions, commercial transactions, franchising, and valuation matters.
Ryan Bell, Patent Agent Trainee, Gowlings
Ryan Bell is a patent agent trainee in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, practicing in the Intellectual Property Group.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Ryan was a research associate at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) His work has been published in highly regarded journals. In addition to his research at OHRI, Ryan started his own scientific editing company, Excision Editing, where he helped scientists around the globe prepare their scientific documents for publication. He also taught at the college and university levels in various fields, including organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and biochemistry.
