Halihax September Event: An Evening About Data Science

Join us this month for three talks by leading technologists focused on the topic of data science

About this event

The future of computing revolves around data: how we create it, organize it, and most importantly, how we can use it to improve society. During this event, we’ll hear from three leading technologists about current techniques to personalize algorithms, the most relevant open source technology in the data science space, and what opportunities can be made with the vast amounts of data we deal with.

This event will be held at the Wattpad offices in downtown Halifax, with snacks and refreshments provided by Halihax.

Gordon is a data scientist and product manager at Socure, where he helps data people build better software.

Rima Al Shikh

Founder & CEO @

Rima is a founder & executive with 4x exits; she is a data scientist and the inventor, founder & CEO behind, a startup that aims to revolutionize how AI is developed and deployed and bring AI to every application.

Fernando Pena-Silva

Load Forecaster @ Nova Scotia Power

Fernando has been working in Data Science ever since his statistical analysis of large astronomical databases and images, starting first as an undergraduate and later as PhD researcher. He is also part of the leadership team of Data for Good Maritimes, a volunteer led group of individuals that help nonprofits with their data analytics needs.
