As the seasons turn, we’re thrilled to extend a warm welcome to our newest cohort of Summer co-op interns! This term, we’re privileged to introduce four bright minds who will be enriching our projects and marketing teams with their unique talents and perspectives. This blog post will help you get to know each a bit better, and first up is our Project Coordinator Co-Op, Noor Khartabil.

Share a bit about yourself, Noor!

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary’s University pursuing a triple major in management, human resources, and marketing. I was born in Sharjah, UAE but my family moved to Nova Scotia when I was only a few months old so I have basically lived here my whole life. Growing up within this small local community has allowed me to recognize my eagerness and desire to work within community centered organizations.

The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to working in this industry?

What excites me the most about the tech sector in Nova Scotia is the fact that it is constantly growing and changing, specifically I am thrilled by the frequent innovative opportunities it presents for individuals.

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

My favourite way to spend a day off would probably be spending time with family and friends, and if the weather is nice I love taking advantage of the good weather by spending time outdoors whether it’s at the beach, having a picnic, or going on a hike.

What’s something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?

I am deeply passionate about community service and volunteering. I find immense fulfillment in contributing to local initiatives and supporting those in need, striving to make a positive impact wherever I can.

What three items you cannot live without (excluding food, water etc-)?

Share a bit about yourself, Amani!

My name is Amani Rizwan, and I’m a third year Finance student at Saint Mary’s University. I was born in Pakistan, but moved to Saudi Arabia when I was 8; I finished high school there, and moved to Halifax 2 years ago. I’m an avid fan of all things music, movies, and cats!

The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to working in this industry?

The move to AI is something that’s always intrigued me, especially as a university student that sees all sides of the argument about whether it should be implemented or not. It’ll be exciting to see what comes up in the sector, especially in regards to the ethics side of it!

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

On a day off, I love to spend time with my friends on a hike, playing games, or at the cinema. I also love exploring new places, and going on road trips.

What’s something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?

I’m a movie nerd, and I try to watch a new movie every day! I have a Letterboxd account that I use to review the films I’ve seen — safe to say I pick what my friends and I watch on movie night.

What three items you cannot live without (excluding food, water etc-)?

Share a bit about yourself, Gevonna!

Hi Everyone! I am thrilled to be here working for Digital Nova Scotia! This is my first internship so I am looking forward to learning more about the company in my role. My minor is in computer science so I know a bit about tech. I am originally from Toronto, ON (so a long way from home) but I really enjoy living on the east coast. I am a tea lover so I have a cabinet dedicated to different types. I drink it iced or hot all year long, so if you have any recommendations let me know.

The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to working in this industry?

The thing that excites me most about the tech sector in Nova Scotia is the potential for growth. There is an opportunity for innovation within the industry because of people from diverse backgrounds, moving to Nova Scotia and other Atlantic provinces. 

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

My favourite way to spend a day off would be spending time doing things I enjoy, such as shopping, eating out, and ending my day with watching a movie or crime series on the couch. 

Where something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?

I am passionate about a few things but one of them is plants, I have them all around my house.

Share a bit about yourself, Abdulquddus!

My name is Abdulquddus Okunola, and I’m from Lagos State,Nigeria. I’m a fourth-year student at Saint Mary’s University, where I’m pursuing a double major in information systems and marketing. I’ve been fascinated by the complex dynamics of consumer behaviour and the revolutionary potential of technology in reshaping contemporary enterprises throughout my academic career. I’m fulfilled by a wide variety of pursuits outside of academia. I treasure the times I spend pursuing my interests, whether it’s playing video games, Watching soccer matches, or just relaxing watching movies.

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

My favourite way to spend the day off starts with a cup of coffee while listening to my favourite playlist, getting some chores done around the house, going to the gym after, having lunch and hanging out with friends.

Where something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?

One of my favourite things to do is play soccer. Every chance I get, you will find me playing soccer both indoor and outdoor in the evenings.
