Tell us about yourself!
I grew up in Montreal and Toronto then moved to Ottawa where I got my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Critical Sexuality Studies at Carleton University. Whatever my role, surgical consultant or Research Assistant at Dalhousie’s Resilience Research Centre, or community volunteer I have always been motivated to help people find their own success and wellbeing. Most recently, my time at Shopify was working in Recruitment Operations & Coordination then Program Management for the DE&I team. While there, I designed, built and implemented inclusive systems and programs for everyone, from prospective candidates, internal employees to the merchants using the platform. This next chapter at DNS is the culmination of all my experience in tech and community development.
What excites you the most about the tech sector in Nova Scotia?
I’m most excited about the potential for economic growth to those who have been historically/are currently disenfranchised. Accessibility to technical skills is ever increasing and has the power to create generational changes for our local communities – thereby creating a more equitable, creative and healthier population.
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?
Ideally a day spent half with the chaos of family and half quiet and alone.
What’s something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?
Sci-Fi and fantasy. I am also very into Halloween. My goal is to be THAT house on the street.
What three items you cannot live without (excluding food, water etc-)?
1) Coffee
2) Phone
3) Hair Tie
