‘Very excited to grow:’ Torq IT, North America’s #1 Pimcore Provider, expands to N.S.

Torq IT has come a long way since Jeremy Noonan founded the company as a freelancer working from his dining room table in Prince Edward Island. Now, nearly a decade later and nearing 20 employees, the company has expanded its Atlantic Canadian footprint, opening its first Halifax office earlier this year.

“Our new Halifax location is still in its infancy, but we are very excited to grow Torq into Nova Scotia,” said Noonan.

Torq is an innovative, experienced and nimble team delivering quality software solutions to its clients around the world. It is North America’s leading Pimcore provider, recently achieving Platinum Status in their partner program. One of the main principles of PIM projects is to create a single source of truth for product data that can then be used everywhere the business needs it, said Noonan.

“Businesses realize that their data is only growing in importance and the better job they do of organizing and aggregating their data, the better they can serve their customers in the digital age,” Noonan said, pointing to their work with Halifax-based Graybar Canada, in which they implemented Pimcore and built tools to help organize and enrich the data for the 100,000+ products in their standard catalogue.

While Pimcore is their main focus, Torq also has a division that delivers non-Pimcore projects. These projects are mostly enterprise or business applications built from the ground up, falling under the category of Web Portals, Cloud Migrations, SQL development, and more.

The team at Torq have an eye for innovation, and they’re constantly improving the way they develop software, manage projects, create brand awareness and seek new opportunities.

“We encourage everyone to work hard, but also to work smart and think forward,” said Noonan.

“Respecting our employee’s work-life balance, while also providing a challenging work environment has helped us recruit and maintain an employee base with very low turn-over.”

Despite the company’s growth, its core values have never wavered. For Torq, long-term relationships are of the utmost importance.

“We’ve been successful in maintaining these relationships by doing good work, putting in the effort to understand our clients’ businesses, and by acting more like an extension of their team than as external contractors,” said Noonan.

Torq has an exciting year ahead. On top of implementing new Pimcore builds for large enterprise clients and a new innovative development with a maritime based start-up, they have a number of internal projects on the go to improve quality and efficiency. And of course, they’ll focus on growing their team in Nova Scotia.

“We’re still on the hunt for a technical lead for this location and encourage folks to send in their resume,” said Noonan.
