The Digital Nova Scotia team is growing, we are super excited to introduce you to our new Project Analyst – Jordan Audas!
Jordan recently graduated from the Masters of Information program at Dalhousie University, becoming the first student of that program to be successfully awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) grant for his thesis, entitled “The Price of Glass Slippers: Folklore, Intellectual Property, and Neoliberalism”. Prior to graduate school, Jordan completed his bachelor degree at Mount Saint Vincent University, majoring in English and graduating with distinction. An avid reader, camper, and part-time research assistant/Tolkienist, Jordan is passionate about promoting information distribution and access.
Here’s a few questions to help you get to know Jordan a little better!
What excites you the most about the tech sector in Nova Scotia? Is there an area that interests you the most?
As cliche as this sounds, the most exciting thing about the tech sector in Nova Scotia right now is how it continues to grow and become more and more vital to the province. Continuing to support this growth as well as the people within the industry is something I’m very much looking forward to doing.
While you work, what do you have playing in the background?
Definitely something without lyrics – I’m ashamed to say I’m easily distracted when it comes to music.
What’s something you’re passionate about that would surprise us?
I am a massive fan of the folk revival of the 1960s. From Pete Seeger to Dave Van Ronk to, of course, Bob Dylan, I can talk for hours about the music and culture of that time period.
What three items you cannot live without (excluding food, water etc.)?
I’m going to exclude people and pets and be as specific as possible with this one, so let’s say 1) East of Eden by John Steinbeck; 2) my 1980s, super comfortable Bruce Springsteen Tunnel of Love shirt; 3) seasons 3-9 of The Simpsons.
