We are ecstatic to welcome our new Program Coordinator, Sarah Bentley to the team! Sarah is a co-op student from Mount Saint Vincent University who will be joining us for the winter term.
Tell us about yourself!
I am a fourth year student at Mount Saint Vincent University and currently am in progress of completing a double major in marketing and management, as well as a cooperative education in Business Administration. I have worked in marketing departments and Non-for-Profits throughout my professional journey and have found a stronger passion to work within Non-for-Profit organizations in order to help make an impact within my community and around the globe. I have been involved within my community for the majority of my life as a basketball player and coach. Being a coach has taught me that even the smallest lesson you can teach someone can have unexpected and rewarding impacts within their life.
Can you tell us something about yourself that isn’t in your bio?
A passion of mine is yoga and meditation! Yoga and meditation have opened up a new sense of mindfulness and respect towards the body we have as a human, showing love and respect towards yourself is one of the most important things you can do for you! I eventually want to get my instructor’s license and open my own studio after I graduate.
What do you love most about your program at university?
I am extremely grateful for the co-op program at MSVU, this program has allowed me to gain real-life experience for when I graduate while also networking and learning from intelligent and wonderful employers. Co-op has also provided me with unexpected education that I will carry with me for the rest of my professional career.
The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to about working in this industry?
I am most looking forward to working with people who are knowledgeable in this sector and I am excited to learn as much as possible and to bring my knowledge to the tech sector in Nova Scotia.
So it’s your first week, what do you hope to accomplish while you’re with us?
I hope to expand my knowledge of the tech sector in Nova Scotia and to contribute to Digital Nova Scotia’s growth and success while also gaining professional relationships that carry on after my co-op position is complete.
What’s something you’re really interested in that might surprise us?
I am very interested in astrology and tarot card readings, I study it in my free time and will probably ask you what your sign is when I meet you! Music is another passion of mine and I have recently started to write songs and plan on recording something in the near future.
If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be?
Costa Rica without hesitation! Costa Rica is one of my favorite places on the planet, the culture there is peaceful and welcoming, (Fun fact: there is no military in Costa Rica) the food is fresh, the land is breathtaking and there are beaches and jungles everywhere.
