Canada

  • More people were working in February, with the addition of 1,100 jobs, making it the seventh consecutive monthly gain.
  • Part-time jobs increased while full-time jobs declined.
  • The rate of unemployment saw no change from last month, remaining at 6.6%.
  • The goods-producing sector lost jobs in February (-19,500), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 20,600 jobs.

Atlantic Canada

  • Employment fell sharply in February, down from the previous month by 6,700 jobs.
  • Full-time jobs increased alongside fewer part-time.
  • The rate of unemployment rose sharply, going from 7.1% to 7.8%, reaching its highest point since August 2022.
  • The goods-producing sector lost jobs in February (-2,700), while the service sector saw job reductions of 4,000.
