Product Manager, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Harbour

Job Summary Digital Solutions within Information Technology Services (ITS) enables and supports enterprise digital platforms that advance Dalhousie University’s academic, research, and administrative priorities. Reporting to the Director, Digital Solutions, the Product Manager, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Harbour leads Dalhousie’s applied AI initiative by overseeing strategy, governance, platform development, and adoption to deliver secure, scalable, and user-focused AI solutions aligned with the university’s digital strategy. Key Responsibilities

• Steward and adapt the Artificial Intelligence Harbour product roadmap, maintaining a prioritized portfolio of use cases spanning administrative efficiency, AI literacy, and academic experimentation, aligned to Dalhousie’s institutional AI maturity goals and reported quarterly to the AI Harbour Steering Group.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AI professionals, allocating capacity across discovery, delivery, and enablement activities while fostering a culture of responsible AI innovation and continuous improvement.
• Direct the intake, evaluation, governance, and end-to-end delivery of AI use cases through the University AI platforms, ensuring each initiative is grounded through defined sponsor(s), clear objectives and goals, and measurable indicators of success.
• Champion responsible AI adoption by stewarding policy, risk, privacy, accessibility, and security considerations for AI services in production, working across Information Security, Privacy, Legal, and the Centre for Learning and
• Teaching through the AI Subcommittee of Digital Governance.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships across ITS, academic faculties, and administrative units to advance AI literacy programming, faculty development, and academic experimentation, ensuring adoption is informed, inclusive, and risk-aware.
• Build, maintain, and report on the metrics, outcomes, and operational reporting framework required to evaluate AI Harbour’s institutional impact and support the long-term sustainment and funding recommendation at the close of the pilot.

Note The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines. Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with seven or more years’ relevant experience in enterprise IT, digital platforms, or technology-enabled transformation environments (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
• Demonstrated experience leading product, platform, or programme outcomes across the full lifecycle, including strategy, planning, delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement.
• Experience translating organizational needs into roadmaps, use case portfolios, and governance-aligned delivery plans with measurable success indicators.
• Experience supervising or leading technical contributors such as analysts, engineers, or similar roles.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and working experience with artificial intelligence technologies, tools, or platforms, including generative AI applications or AI governance considerations.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills with demonstrated ability to engage senior stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and non-technical audiences.

Assets

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft AI platforms, including M365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, or Azure AI services.
• Experience with enterprise AI platforms beyond the Microsoft ecosystem (e.g., Cohere, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar), including deployment, integration, or governance of large language model (LLM) or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) based solutions.
• Experience with responsible AI frameworks or governance policy development, combined with demonstrated ability to design or deliver AI literacy programs, technology adoption initiatives, or organizational change management in an AI context.
• Experience in higher education, public sector, or similarly complex multi-stakeholder environments; familiarity with academic, research, and administrative mission contexts is an asset.
• Professional certifications in product management, agile delivery, project management, or enterprise AI (e.g., Project
• Management Professional (PMP), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Microsoft AI certifications, or equivalent).
• Experience with AI maturity or readiness frameworks (e.g., Gartner Enterprise AI Maturity Model) or evidence-based program evaluation and outcomes reporting.
