Java Developer - Payments

Position Description: CGI is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and delivery of high-value payment solutions. In this role, you will develop scalable, high-performance enterprise applications while providing technical leadership across complex initiatives spanning multiple teams and technologies. Working closely with solution architects, developers, business analysts, product owners, QA specialists, and infrastructure teams, you will design secure, resilient, and maintainable software solutions that support mission-critical payment platforms. You will play a key role in driving technical excellence, mentoring team members, and promoting modern engineering practices across the software development lifecycle. This is a full-time permanent opportunity. Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Develop secure RESTful APIs and implement authentication and authorization using OAuth and Spring Security.
• Design and implement high-throughput, mission-critical applications supporting payment processing and distributed systems.
• Build and maintain event-driven solutions using Kafka and messaging technologies.
• Develop and optimize relational and NoSQL database solutions, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB.
• Collaborate with solution architects and cross-functional teams to design secure, scalable, and resilient software solutions.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, mentoring, and guidance to development teams.
• Support Agile delivery by participating in sprint planning, estimation, architecture discussions, and risk assessment activities.
• Contribute to CI/CD practices, application deployment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure software quality through automated testing, secure coding practices, and engineering best practices.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional software development experience, including significant experience developing enterprise Java applications.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Security.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, OAuth authentication, and microservices-based applications.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience designing and supporting large-scale, high-availability, mission-critical enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB.
• Experience with source control and collaboration tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Ability to decompose complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Excellent analytical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor development teams, solve complex technical challenges, and lead technical discussions.

AssetsThe following qualifications would be considered assets:

• Experience developing front-end applications using React, Angular, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-native application development.
• Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or AI-assisted development technologies.
• Knowledge of network architecture and distributed systems design.
• Experience within financial services, payments, or other highly regulated industries.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000-$125,000 CAD. This role is an existing vacancy. #LI-HG Skills:
