SUMMARY:From Survival to Sustainability with Matt Thomson from Placemaking 4G
DESCRIPTION:High-growth environments demand a lot from founders and leadership teams. The pace of innovation\, constant decision-making\, and pressure to perform can push even the most capable leaders into cycles of stress\, overextension\, and burnout. But sustainable leadership isn’t about working harder\, it’s about building the habits\, boundaries\, and self-awareness that allow both leaders and businesses to thrive over the long term. \nThis refreshingly honest and practical session explores the human side of entrepreneurship: the energy\, values\, and rhythms that quietly shape leadership capacity and business performance. Through real-world insights and practical frameworks\, we’ll examine how stress\, decision fatigue\, and people-pleasing show up in leadership—and how addressing them can directly impact clarity\, profitability\, and long-term resilience. \nTailored for the fast-moving tech community\, this workshop meets founders where they are—ambitious\, innovative\, and often stretched thin—and provides practical tools to build endurance without burnout. Participants will learn strategies to navigate high-stakes environments more sustainably while strengthening both their personal leadership and the health of their business. \nSession Takeaways: \n\nPractical strategies for navigating stress\, decision fatigue\, and people-pleasing;\nA framework for self-leadership in high-growth\, high-pressure environments and;\nClarity on the habits and structures that sustain high performance over time.\n\nMeet Your Presenter \nMatt Thomson is a TEDx speaker\, author\, and co-founder of Placemaking 4G (P4G)\, an award-winning firm helping organizations rethink how they hire and support their people. Matt shares his own journey of burnout and recovery to inspire others to slow down and embrace life’s pauses. He has been featured in the MARS Discovery District’s Portraits of Innovation campaign\, is a member of the Wallace McCain Institute’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Program (ELP ’16)\, hosted a podcast with listeners in dozens of countries and is proud to have co-founded the “Mounties for Mental Health” initiative supporting suicide awareness and prevention at Mount Allison University.

SUMMARY:Webinar: AI Service Management - Canadian Trustworthiness Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) deployments require mature management practices\, that are proactively considered and integrated by design into the solutions. AI has many dimensions and lenses\, where cloud computing\, software engineering\, DEVSECOPS\, security\, data analytics merges into a challenging-to-manage eco-system of services. Many Canadian and international standards bodies have AI related activities\, across these dimensions. \nDefining and managing the services within the AI eco-system helps optimize outcomes and efficiencies. \nSteven will provide updates regarding standards efforts\, while mapping to itSMF\, highlighting some uniquely Canadian opportunities and perspectives. \nSpeaker: Steven Woodward \n\nSteven Woodward is founder and CEO at Cloud Perspectives\, helping companies and governments effectively and transparently plan\, secure\, assess\, procure/ contract\, architect\, deliver\, support and monitor cloud and digital transformation opportunities. \nCloud Perspectives helps companies prepare for obtaining an Authorization To Operate (ATO)\, organizing evidence and artefacts while facilitating the cultural change needed to operationalize and execute. \nSteven is respected for being vendor neutral\, logical\, and value-focused\, where current Canadian standards contributions include: AI Ethics\, Geo-Jurisdictions\, Sovereignty\, Cloud Resiliency and Data Governance. \nAt NIST\, Steven co-led the cloud audit and cloud carrier activities\, while contributing to the NIST/ IEEE cloud federation standards. \nFor ISO/ IEC JTC 1\, Steven is the Canadian Vice-Chair of SC38 and is liaison between the software systems standards (SC7) and cloud distributed standards (SC38) committees. \nSteven has contributed to many other publications and communities such as: OMG\, IFPUG\, ITU-T\, TM Forum\, PTC\, itSMF\, IIBA\, ISACA\, ISED\, DGSI and NIST.

SUMMARY:The State of Digital Adoption in Canada’s Advanced Manufacturing Sector
DESCRIPTION:ICTC research found that only 23% of Canadian manufacturers fully succeeded in implementing digital technologies over the past five years. \nA national study conducted by ICTC\, with support from NGen\, examines the challenges and opportunities associated with digital technology adoption in Canadian manufacturing. Drawing on industry surveys\, expert interviews\, and roundtables\, the research explores digital transformation across five sectors: automotive\, aerospace\, biomanufacturing\, fabricated metal products\, and food and beverage. \nThis webinar will explore key findings from the research and implications for manufacturers considering digital transformation. The discussion will also point to practical considerations and next steps that can help companies better prepare for future adoption efforts. \nAbout NGen:\nNext Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen) is the industry-led\, non-profit organization leading Canada’s Global Innovation Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing. One of five national networks supported by Canada’s ambitious Global Innovation Clusters Initiative. We are founded on the principle that digital transformation in advanced manufacturing will enrich the lives of Canadians\, delivering better products and good jobs while generating the economic growth essential to a better future. \nAbout ICTC:\nThe Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is a neutral\, not-for-profit national centre of expertise with the mission of strengthening Canada’s digital advantage in the global economy. For over 30 years\, and with a team of 100 experts\, we have delivered forward-looking research\, practical policy advice\, and capacity building solutions for individuals and businesses.
