About
Dr. Dawn Jutla is the Scotiabank Chair of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and founder and former Director of the Master of Technology Entrepreneurship (MTEI) Program at the Sobey School of Business. She is also the founder and co-CEO of Peer Ledger Inc., a blockchain company headquartered in Halifax, NS.
Dawn received her Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science in the areas of distributed shared memory and multi-view memory access control and protection respectively from the Technical University of Nova Scotia/Dalhousie University. She became multi-disciplinary by adding and teaching new MBA business courses such as e-Commerce and Government and Platforms. She has co-authored over 90 peer-reviewed scientific publications, including in ACM, IEEE, and ScienceDirect outlets. She is co-author of a book entitled e-Business Readiness: A Customer-Focused Framework. In 2012, she convened the OASIS Privacy by Design Documentation for Software Engineers (PbD-SE) Technical Committee with Ann Cavoukian. Dawn is a recipient of the World Technology Award in the Software category for her work in online privacy. Dr. Jutla has 15 years of Board experience. She served for 6 years on the Saint Mary’s Board of Governors, 3 years on the Board of the IWK Health Centre, and on the Board of OASIS, an international standards organization, for 6 years between 2012 and 2018.
