Currently\, Sally is an executive-in-residence at East Valley Ventures. Previously\, she was CEO at a new social enterprise called Tribe Network and a senior director at Highline Beta. \nSally has led multiple corporate innovation venture teams within Fortune 1000 companies\, applying strategy and execution to help companies grow beyond their core. Over the years\, she has worked with organizations such as Brightspark Ventures\, National Angel Capital Organization and a number of others that enable the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. \nSally has actively been involved with the start-up community through her work with Techstars Startup Weekend and has travelled around the world facilitating events. She recently completed a six-year term serving on the national board of directors for the Community Foundations of Canada (CFC)\, a charity with an asset portfolio of $7B across a network of 191 local community foundations. \nSally has been part of multiple committees and was the co-chair of the strategic opportunities committee. She also gives back to her community by serving on the Impact Organizations of Nova Scotia (IONS) board of directors as part of the executive committee and serves on the Inspirit Foundation board of directors. \nRob Barbara \nRob has spent 17 years working in investment management and capital markets and as an entrepreneur. Most recently\, he spent 11 years at Burgundy Asset Management\, a leading global investment management firm. While at Burgundy\, he founded its sister company\, Beaujolais Private Investment Management. When he left Burgundy in 2013\, Rob was a senior vice president responsible for private client business and was a board director. \nPreviously\, Rob worked at TD Securities in various capital markets roles. As an entrepreneur\, he was president and co-founder of a medical IT start-up\, eSalveo\, which was sold in 2001. \nRob received his MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business\, and his undergraduate and masters degrees (Economics) from Queen’s University. \nJennifer Fuccillo \nJennifer is an investment analyst at Innovacorp\, where she supports the organization’s mission to find\, fund and foster innovative start-ups striving to change the world. Her focus is on identifying attractive angel\, pre-seed and seed investment opportunities relating to the future of food and sustainable materials from the land and ocean\, and supporting the growth of the industrial biotech\, agritech\, and oceantech sectors in Nova Scotia. \nJennifer is also passionate about supporting women-led start-ups and investments that are sustainable and make a positive impact on society. In her role\, she identifies prospective investments and conducts all aspects of the investment review\, approval\, and closing cycle\, such as screening opportunities\, analysis\, due diligence\, and making recommendations to the investment team. \nPrior to joining Innovacorp\, Jennifer spent over a decade as an entrepreneur\, founding businesses in Canada and the United States spanning plant-based foods\, retail\, e-commerce\, and product innovation from design to production. Our ocean and coasts provide a natural way of reducing the impact of greenhouse gases on our atmosphere\, through sequestration of this carbon. \nKeynote \nKen Buessler\, Senior Scientist\, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (www.whoi.edu) \nKen is a senior scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution who specializes in the study of natural and manmade radionuclides in the ocean. He has served as chair of the marine chemistry and geochemistry department at WHOI\, as executive scientist of the US joint global ocean fluxes planning and data management office and two years as an associate program director at the US National Science Foundation\, division of ocean sciences\, chemical oceanography program. In 2009\, Ken was elected fellow of the American Geophysical Union and in 2011\, he was noted as the top cited ocean scientist by the Times Higher Education for the decade 2000-2010. \nStart-ups \nMo AlGermozi\, CEO & President\, Graphite Innovation & Technology (www.grapheneenterprise.ca) – Graphite Innovation & Technology (GIT) has an innovative marine coating that is environmentally friendly\, easily cleaned\, does not require the application of primer underlayers and proven to reduce vessel costs and emissions. \nMike Kelland\, CEO\, Planetary Technologies (www.planetarytech.com) – Planetary Technologies (formerly Planetary Hydrogen) is developing technology to produce hydrogen while removing carbon from the air and restoring ocean chemistry. \nMarc D’Entremont\, CEO & Founder\, Katchi – Katchi focuses on precision fish harvesting. Its first technology is a dynamically controlled net that prevents seabed destruction by trawlers. \nChuck Toombs\, CEO & Founder\, Oregon Seaweed (www.oregonseaweed.com) – Oregon Seaweed is on a mission to provide low impact\, high nutrient\, fresh foods to the world. They believe that healthy\, fresh ingredients do not have to come at a cost to the environment. In fact\, alternative sources of protein like seaweed can help our world heal.
