Tell us about yourself!

Cary at her graduation, which was the day before her first day at Digital Nova Scotia!

I am a recent graduate from IT Data Analytics at NSCC. I was born and raised in Hong Kong, and I moved to Nova Scotia with my husband, Fred, in 2019. I completed tertiary education in the City University of Hong Kong, majoring in Business Communications, and I used to work for NGOs and IB international schools in administration and project management. We decided to move to Halifax because Fred received a job offer from REDspace while we were in Hong Kong. His career development was the main reason of our relocation, which is why he absolutely deserves a mention here, because he is key person leading me to this series of adventures!

What excites you the most about the tech sector in Nova Scotia? Is there an area that interests you the most?

Having graduated from an IT stream at NSCC,  I am thrilled to be a part of the vibrant tech community in Nova Scotia. The tech sector here is growing rapidly and there is potential for more innovation. With DNS playing a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and supporting the development of the tech industry, it creates an environment that encourages creativity and professional development, which I find really exciting. I am particularly interested in the intersection of data analytics and research. The tech sector in Nova Scotia provides ample opportunities to leverage data-driven insights to make a positive impact. With my education background in IT Data Analytics and experience in project management, I look forward to contributing my skills and working alongside brilliant coworkers to drive meaningful outcomes.

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

I enjoy gardening to improve my home’s environment, and I also love cooking, reading and watching movies. These activities help me relax at home.

What’s something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?

I am learning French as a pastime, and I attend classes on ice figure skating with some friends.

What three items can you not live without?

I would say my phone, my personal computer, and my work computer 🙂
