Today, we welcomed another new member to the Digital NS team, our new Project Coordinator, Victoria Jeha! Victoria is the perfect addition to our team, and brings with her enthusiasm, organization and a passion for digital skills! We asked Victoria a couple of questions to find out a little more about her, and wanted to share them with you!
Victoria, can you tell us a little about yourself?
I graduated from Dalhousie University in 2015 with a double major in International Development Studies and Sustainability. Since then I have explored various sides of community development through the lens of equity and inclusion; from economic development in our agriculture sector to STEM educational facilitation in indigenous communities. I am passionate about a diverse Nova Scotia and working to break down barriers for communities to enter the exciting and growing tech industry.
Ok, we’ve got to know – why tech? What are you most looking forward to about working in this (we’re biased) amazing industry?
What I love most about the tech industry is the endless potential for ideas and dreams to become reality. I am consistently excited and inspired by what new innovations are on the horizon, whether it be a new app that streamlines my day, watching a 3D printer create something new, or playing a game on a futuristic VR headset. I am always blown away at what the human mind can accomplish! I am especially thrilled to be working in this unique and dynamic industry on Nova Scotian soil, where we are seeing unprecedented growth and endless potential for us to grow our economy.
So you’ve been with us for about 5 hours now, what’s your favourite thing so far?
My favourite thing so far is the shared office environment and the collaborative atmosphere that the team has. Already we have gotten down to business and shared some laughs along the way. The amazing view of Halifax harbour is also a great perk, and Sebastian’s robotic pencil holder is a pretty cool feature!
What’s something you’re passionate about, that a stranger might be surprised by?
I am passionate about the environment and environmental justice. It sounds strange to say but I am currently passionate about reusable beeswax food wraps. I love that they keep your food fresh, and save do away with environmentally harmful plastic wrap.
If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
If I could go anywhere in the world for one year it would be Spain for the beaches, the food, and the spanish practice! I would sneak off to other European countries while I was in the neighborhood.
