Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Ricardo!

We're excited to welcome Ricardo Cancino to the team here at Digital Nova Scotia for the rest of the summer! Ricardo is a co-op student from Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) who's joined the team to help with digital marketing suggestions for small businesses through NSCC. We asked Ricardo a few questions about himself and what he's hoping to accomplish during his time with DNS! Tell us about yourself. I am a second-year student in Marketing at Nova Scotia Community College. I've been living in Halifax for about 5 years and 9 years all together in Canada. Originally from Mexico, I've come to love everything about Nova Scotia. I am extremely thankful to be able to help Digital Nova Scotia achieve their mission to support the community while learning skills that will help me in the future. My goal for the future is to be able to help people with my knowledge and to create my own business that might support people in need. I have work experience in various different positions as well as planning and executing events.
Ricardo, can you tell us something about yourself that isn’t in your bio?
I love trying new food, visiting new places and new digital experiences. My end goal is to work with a company I love so that I can enjoy every day while doing something worthwhile.
What do you love most about your program at university?
Marketing is something I am truly passionate about, I enjoy all my classes that have anything to do with how marketing works and the story of all kinds of brands and companies that have revolutionize marketing in any way.
The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to about working in this industry?
In this day and age, the tech business is the most relevant of all sectors, I personally am thrilled to see and to be a part of how industries change while upgrading.
So, it’s your first day, what do you hope to accomplish while you’re with us?
I hope I can help as many people as possible. Halifax and Nova Scotia have given me so many fond memories and experiences, I believe this is my opportunity to help the community.
What’s something you’re really interested in that might surprise us?
Mythology is something I have always been interested in, especially Greek, Germanic and Aztec. I love all the stories, odysseys, and poems.
If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be?
Japan, I have always enjoyed the countries history and aesthetic. But I have to mention that their food is amazing, and I would love to try as much as possible.
