Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Kirsten!

October 26, 2021

The entire Digital Nova Scotia team is very excited to introduce you to Kirsten Hannah, a Grade 12 co-op student at Citadel High School who will be joining our Marketing & Communications team for 14 weeks!

Recently accepted into Mount Saint Vincent University‘s Public Relations Program, Kirsten was eager to join the DNS team to get the chance to experience the environment before diving into her post-secondary education. Her father was heavily involved in information technology, and her mother’s dream job was in marketing and public relations, so naturally, her interests and talents align perfectly with Digital Nova Scotia’s atmosphere.

We asked Kirsten some quick questions to help introduce her to the DNS community, here are her responses;

The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, is there a particular area in tech that excites you the most?

I find all technology exciting, and enjoy many different areas such as; information and communications technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, etc. My experience in the technology field is limited, but I am excited to learn and grow here at Digital Nova Scotia.

What is your favourite class in High School?

Currently, my favourite classes in High School are business technology and sociology. I love the design element of business tech., and learning the science behind human social behaviour in sociology is fascinating.

What’s something you’re passionate about that might surprise us?

I am passionate about Diabetes education and advancement in technology. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of seven, and it has impacted not only my life, but the lives of my friends and family as well. I am dedicated to teaching others about this chronic health condition, and I have done so through speeches, blog posts, and conversations.

If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be?

If I were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, I would want to go to Germany. My grandfather grew up in a small town in Germany called Bad Sassendorf, and I would love to be able to go and meet his side of the family that I’ve never been able to see in person! As well, Germany is well known for it’s beautiful landscapes, so I think it would be a beautiful and memorable experience.
