Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Judith!

June 17, 2021

The Digital Nova Scotia team is growing, we’ve added a new member to our team!

Judith was born in Mexico and raised in a family that valued diversity, culture and world travel. She has been proud to call Nova Scotia home for over twenty-one years.

In addition to her formal education in business administration, event and project management, and international trade, Judith has had many experiences that provided her with a valuable skill set for her role with Digital Nova Scotia. In particular, her twelve years in project and event management with six of those years focused on the philanthropic and not-for-profit industries. Through these experiences, Judith learned the value of networking and relationship building as key success factors in any initiative. She has also developed strong skills in managing multiple projects and timelines, thriving in fast-paced and deadline-driven environments.

In May 2021, Judith received her Certified International Trade Professional Diploma from The Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), the world’s leading international trade training and professional certification authority. She has managed trade missions including matchmaking, logistics, and organization for missions in-bound and to South East Asia, the Caribbean, EU, and Greenland. She also managed the Energy Innovation Project in support of the Paris Agreement mandate, helping indigenous communities to create and execute clean energy missions. Her fluency in both Spanish and English allows her to foster relationships in those international markets. The upside of COVID has seen a transformation toward digitally-based platforms where the possibilities for international trade are now more accessible than ever.
On a personal note, her hobbies include time spent with family and friends, reading, cooking and exploring the world both near and far. In the summer you can find Judith on her paddleboard enjoying the tranquillity of nature and what this beautiful province has to offer.

We asked Judith some quick questions to help introduce her to the DNS community, here are her responses;

The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to about working in this industry?

I am most excited to build connect with community organizations, partners and members, and together, explore and drive opportunities for growth both locally and internationally.

So, you’ve finished one week with us – how was it?

It was a fantastic week! Learning all about the exceptional programs offered by DNS and the value they bring both to the industry and in helping people build their IT skill set to then work in the ICT sector.

What’s something you’re really interested in that might surprise us?

I enjoy taking my stand up paddleboard and exploring different bodies of water whether it be a lake or the ocean.

If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be?

Egypt is at the top of my bucket list! As one of the world’s earliest and greatest civilizations, I have been fascinated with Egypt since I was a little girl. I have read countless books about its culture, ancient pyramids and early forms of writing. As well, this country’s visionary work on reaching trade networks along the Nile, in the Red Sea, and in the Near East was inspirational to me.
