Welcome to Digital Nova Scotia, Abby!

We're kicking off a new year with a new face, as we welcome our new team member, Abby Murray! Joining us as our Communications Coordinator for four months, Abby is completing her second work placement as part of her Bachelor of Public Relations. Abby is a Halifax local and is currently in her third year of Public Relations at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU). She completed her first co-op at the Centre for Women in Business and looks forward to working at Digital Nova Scotia for her second co-op opportunity. Abby has a love for writing, reading, and design but, when she isn’t in the classroom she can be found spending time with family and friends, getting outside and, exploring new areas in the Maritimes. We asked Abby a few quick questions so that we could all get to know her a little better: Abby, can you tell us something about yourself that isn't in your bio? I love animals. I try to spend as much time as I can at the SPCA walking the dogs and playing with the other animals at the shelter. What do you love most about your program at university? What I love most about the Public Relations (PR) program at the Mount is how many opportunities you are given. Having to complete three co-op placements is a great way to get a hands-on learning approach. I also love how small the PR program is - I’ve met so many great friends through it. The tech sector in Nova Scotia is thriving, what are you most looking forward to about working in this industry? Halifax is a growing city and we have a lot going on especially in the tech sector. I’m looking forward to meeting Halifax’s tech entrepreneurs and businesses and getting a deeper understanding of who they are and the businesses they have. So, it's your first day, what do you hope to accomplish while you're with us? I just want to learn as much as I can! I hope I can continue to develop my PR skills and work on new projects and gain experience that will help me as I go forward in completing my PR degree. What’s something you’re really interested in that might surprise us? I love to read! I’m always up for finding a new book or a cute bookstore. If you were given a plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? London! I’ve been there once and absolutely loved it.
