INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: Canadian ICT Partnering Mission to Hong Kong (April 12 – 16, 2018)
The Government of Canada, Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong & Macao, in partnership with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Canada, would like to invite Canadian ICT companies to join a Canadian ICT Partnering Mission to Hong Kong scheduled for April 12- 16, 2018, coinciding with the HKTDC International ICT Expo (ICT Expo), an annual ICT Trade Show in Hong Kong.
Who should join the Mission?
Canadian companies offering innovative solutions in the following areas for Financial Services, Smart City, Telecom, and Government/Public Sector:
- Cloud-based Enterprise Applications
- Big Data, Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence
- Cyber Security and Data Protection
- Internet of Things, Wireless Technologies
Why Hong Kong?
Hong Kong (HK) is an open market with no foreign ownership restrictions, and a free port with no import duties on ICT goods. HK has a world class ICT infrastructure and is a leading ICT hub in the APAC region. Key drivers for growth in ICT sector in HK include highly liberalized IT and Telecom sector; HK’s open market, pro-consumer and pro-competition policies; a technologically savvy population; proximity to Mainland China; easy movement of people; free flow of information; and an excellent transportation infrastructure accessing Asia and other parts of the world. Many multinational ICT companies and startups have chosen HK as their sales and marketing hub and test bed for product and market development into Mainland China and the rest of Asia.
What does the Trade Mission offer?
Mission delegates will benefit from a range of business programs organized by the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) at the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong & Macao, aiming to help delegates to gather information on market trends and business opportunities, network with local ICT contacts, and explore partnership in HK and APAC region. The business program includes:
- Briefing on market trends and opportunities by local experts.
- Personalized business matching service for those whose products fall into the areas listed above, subject to TCS’s market potential assessment (for exhibitors only).
- Site visits or partnering events at technology clusters in Hong Kong.
- Information counter in the Canadian Pavilion at ICT Expo 2018 (for exhibitors only).
- Various conferences and seminars concurrently held during ICT Expo 2018.
Hotel Accommodation Sponsorship (for exhibitors only)
Successful applicants are entitled to a 4-night complimentary hotel accommodation during show period at a hotel selected by HKTDC; one room per company. Number of complimentary hotel rooms is limited; offer is available on a first-come first-served basis. Confirmed delegates are responsible for their respective airfares, hotel accommodations outside of the 4-night sponsorship, and incidental expenses.
Government of Canada Funding Program
The CanExport program is a Government of Canada funding program that provides direct financial assistance to small and medium-sized businesses registered in Canada that are seeking to develop new export opportunities and markets, especially high-growth emerging markets. Click HERE for details.
Application
The participation fee is C$300 per company.
