Even in a year of economic uncertainty, Canada’s tech sector is proving it knows how to reward talent. According to TAP Network’s 2025 Tech Sector Salary and Total Rewards Survey, median salaries in Canadian tech rose 3.5% this year, signaling that companies are still investing in the people driving innovation.

Here’s what stood out:

  • Flexible workplaces are winning: 71% of tech companies now offer hybrid arrangements, with another 26% fully remote. Only a small fraction remain fully onsite. Read more.
  • Hot roles, hotter pay: Product Marketing Managers (+7.2%), Data Scientists, and UX Researchers are leading the charge in salary growth.
  • Sector-specific winners: Fintech and hardware design are outpacing others, with median salary hikes of 5.8% and 5% respectively.
  • Retention is trending up: Turnover has dropped from 13% to 8% over three years—proof that keeping employees happy isn’t just nice, it’s smart business.
  • Transparency is key: Nearly half of employers are disclosing or preparing to disclose pay ranges

Looking ahead to 2026, tech companies forecast 13% headcount growth and continue to budget carefully for salary increases, averaging 3.6%. This signals cautious optimism: Canadian tech is growing, but thoughtfully.

“These findings suggest the tech sector is finding its equilibrium after years of rapid growth and adjustment,” said Hollingshead. “Organizations that succeed will be those that thoughtfully combine competitive compensation with meaningful benefits and flexible work arrangements.”
