Canada

  • Employment rose during the month by 60,400 jobs.
  • Full-time jobs increased alongside fewer part-time.
  • The rate of unemployment saw no change from last month, remaining at 7.1%.
  • The goods-producing sector added jobs (+42,000), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 18,400 jobs.

Labour force: 22,621,800 (+72,300)
Employment: 21,015,300 (+60,400)

 

Atlantic Canada

  • The Atlantic Region experienced growth in employment in September, amounting to 2,900 jobs.
  • Full-time jobs increased alongside fewer part-time.
  • The unemployment rate increased slightly in September to 7.9%, hovering just below a 12-month high (8.0%).
  • Employment in the goods-producing sector was unchanged from the prior month, while the services-producing sector saw growth of 2,800 jobs.
