Canada

  • Employment grew at a strong pace in October, up from the prior month by 66,600 jobs.
  • Part-time jobs increased while full-time jobs declined.
  • The unemployment rate fell in the month to 6.9%, influenced by the solid job gains.
  • The goods-producing sector lost jobs in October (-1,100), while the services producing sector saw growth of 67,600 jobs.

Employment: 21,081,000 (+66,600)

 

Atlantic Canada

  • Employment declined during the month by 1,300 jobs.
  • Full-time jobs increased alongside fewer part-time.
  • The unemployment rate declined slightly in October to 7.9%, hovering just below a 12-month high (8.0%).
  • The services-producing sector gained 3,500 jobs in the month of October, while the goods-producing sector saw a decline of 4,800 jobs.
