Atlantic Labour Market Brief: October 2022

  • Employment rose during the month by 108,300 jobs.
  • Full time jobs increased alongside fewer part-time.
  • The unemployment rate saw no change from last month, remaining at 5.2%
  • The goods-producing sector added jobs ( +45,100), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 63,200 jobs.

Labour Force: 20,729,600 (+110,100) Employment: 19,656,200 (+108,300)

Atlantic Canada

  • The Atlantic Region experienced growth in employment with 10,200 jobs
  • Full time jobs increased alongside fewer part-time.
  • The unemployment rate moved higher in the month to 7.4%
  • The goods-producing sector added jobs (+700), while the service sector saw a growth of 9,600.

Labour Force: 1,268,40 (+13,700) Employment: 1,174,700 (+10,200)

Nova Scotia

  • Labour Force: 515,700
  • Employment: 480,900
  • Unemployment Rate: 6.7%
  • Labour Force Change: +3,700
  • Employment Change: +700
  • Unemployment Rate Change: +0.5%
