  • Employment grew at a strong pace in June, up from the prior month by 83,100 jobs.
  • The growth occurred in both full-time and part-time positions, though primarily part-time.
  • The unemployment rate declined slightly in June to 6.9%, influenced by the solid job gains.
  • The goods-producing sector added jobs (+10,100), while the services-producing sector saw growth of 73,100 jobs.

Atlantic Canada

  • Employment fell sharply in June, down from the previous month by 7,900 jobs.

  • The goods-producing sector added jobs (+2,000), while the service sector saw job reductions of 9,700.
