Applications open for Global Affairs Canada’s Venture Capital Dealbook Initiative

The Trade Commissioner Service is currently enlisting applicants for Global Affairs Canada’s Venture Capital Dealbook Initiative. This project seeks to help Canadian start-ups and scale-ups secure financing by providing exposure and ultimately introductions to venture capital investors from Silicon Valley, the greater U.S. and other VC hubs around the world.

The selection criteria for companies will be based on qualitative and quantitative considerations including, but not limited to:

• Sector: this initiative is geared towards software companies;
• Fundraising status: Your company should have plans to fundraise in 2023. Preference will be given to companies raising a round over $2m USD (please use USD in your materials);
• Key performance metrics (ARR/MRR, growth, TAM, etc.);
• Product/Market fit and demand for solution;

This is a competitive process. A Selection Committee consisting of active US and Canadian VCs has been established to review applicants and oversee the selection process. Selection will be determined based on the overall strength of the full application package (links to additional material are highly encouraged). The Committee’s decisions will be communicated to you by January 2023.
