Venor is proud to partner with Verge Technologies in their search for a Solutions Designer, Systems to join their Dartmouth-based team.

Verge Technologies delivers integrated security, life-safety, and structured/low-voltage cabling solutions for clients across Nova Scotia. As part of a collaborative, client-focused organization, you’ll translate complex requirements into clear, engineered solutions that protect people, places, and critical operations.

The Solutions Designer, Systems acts as the technical sales consultant to the Account Executive team and a subject-matter partner to Senior Management. You’ll support the full pre-sales cycle, leading site surveys and needs analyses, producing functional designs and documentation, building bills of materials and labour estimates, and remain the technical authority through implementation to ensure what’s designed is what gets delivered.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partnering with Account Executives on pre-sales customer meetings, discovery/needs analysis, and site surveys.
  • Translating customer requirements into functional system designs and written scopes.
  • Developing riser diagrams, wiring/functional drawings, calculations, and documentation (Bluebeam, Visio, CAD).
  • Reviewing pre-construction design packages and documentation for completeness and constructability.
  • Scoping cabling and miscellaneous materials; creating accurate material and labour estimates (D-Tools).
  • Providing engineering support to project teams during installation/commissioning; obtaining customer sign-off as needed.
  • Serving as the customer liaison for technical inquiries throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Meeting with manufacturer reps to assess/define product offerings; maintaining relationships with solution partners.
  • Traveling to job sites across the province as required.

What you bring

  • 5+ years in estimating/technical sales within Security and Life-Safety solutions.
  • Strong application knowledge across Video Surveillance, Electronic Access Control, Intrusion Alarm, Public Address/Intercom, Nurse Call/Healthcare Communications, and Integrated Security.
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement and selling into all levels of government.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Visio, CAD (or equivalent), and estimating platforms (e.g., D-Tools).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Nova Scotia.
  • Ability to obtain a clear criminal record check.
  • Post-secondary education is an asset.

Manufacturer experience considered an asset, including:

  • CCTV: i-Pro, Hanwha, Axis, ExacqVision, Milestone, Eagle Eye
  • Access Control: Honeywell, Keyscan, Kantech, SALTO, Brivo
  • Intrusion: Honeywell, DSC, Alarm.com
  • PA/Intercom: CareHawk, TOA, Axis, Aiphone
  • Healthcare/Nurse Call: Ascom, GuardRFID, CareHawk, Status Solutions
  • Professional certifications (assets): CTS, RCDD, PSP, or other industry-relevant credentials.
