The Opportunity
As a Senior Software Developer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining applications across the Opus technology ecosystem. This is a hands-on development role where you’ll contribute throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from solution design through deployment and ongoing support.
Working closely with Product Managers and fellow developers, you’ll help build scalable applications while leveraging modern AI-assisted development workflows. Your technical expertise will be essential in reviewing, validating, and refining AI-generated code to ensure solutions remain robust, maintainable, and production-ready.
You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, mentor peers through code reviews and knowledge sharing, and help drive development best practices across the team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Participate throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), collaborating with Product Managers to design, develop, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain applications using C# across .NET Framework 4.8, .NET 9, and .NET 10.
- Build and support Windows Forms, Windows Services, and Web API applications.
- Leverage AI-assisted development workflows, including agentic coding and prompt engineering, while applying strong engineering judgment to review, debug, validate, and optimize AI-generated code.
- Develop and maintain MySQL databases, including writing complex queries, updating stored procedures, and interpreting database objects.
- Utilize Entity Framework and Dapper for data access and object-relational mapping.
- Collaborate using Git and Azure DevOps for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and development workflows.
- Support the continued evolution of applications across the Opus platform through new feature development and system enhancements.
- Conduct peer code reviews, promote development standards, and recommend improvements to engineering practices.
- Maintain and enhance legacy VB.NET applications when required.
- Develop Proofs of Concept (POCs) to evaluate new technologies and support technical demonstrations and knowledge sharing.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation while supporting a suite of business-critical applications.
- Collaborate closely with teammates to troubleshoot complex technical challenges and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Continuously explore new technologies, development practices, and AI capabilities to improve software quality and delivery.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum five years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency developing applications using C# and the .NET ecosystem.
- Experience working with Windows Forms and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) applications.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, including query development and database design.
- Familiarity with Entity Framework, Dapper, Git, and Azure DevOps.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, code quality, testing, and maintainability.
- Experience participating in peer code reviews and enforcing coding standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment.
Assets Include
- Experience supporting or modernizing legacy VB.NET applications.
- Experience with web development technologies including PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ASP.NET.
- Familiarity with Excel automation or integrations.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies and improving application test coverage.
- Experience with Python or other modern programming languages.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering workflows.
