OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:

The Senior Security Consultant will be responsible for providing expert guidance on cybersecurity best practices, conducting risk assessments, and developing tailored security solutions for our clients. This role requires a strong background in security frameworks, regulatory compliance, and risk management strategies to help organizations proactively address evolving cyber threats.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE: 

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and impacts to business operations.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain risk registers to track identified risks and mitigation plans.
  • Provide strategic security risk advice to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead security audits and assessments against industry standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Evaluate security controls and recommend improvements to enhance compliance and risk posture.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business goals and align security strategies accordingly.
  • Develop security policies, standards, and procedures to strengthen cybersecurity governance.
  • Support incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and remediation of security incidents.
  • Work with internal teams to improve threat detection capabilities and response plans.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity consulting, risk management, or a related role.
  • Proven track record of managing or facilitating complex incident response activities and scenarios.
  • Familiarity with threat intelligence tools and incident response platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with security technologies, including SIEM, firewalls, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience working collaboratively across departments
  • Successful track record of recommendations at CIO, CEO and Board or senior management level
  • Desired Certifications: CISM, CGEIT, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CBCP, CEH, PCIP, ISO27001, CCNA, MCSE, etc., or equivalents
  • Experience with security standards such as ISO27001 and PCI-DSS
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as HIPAA, HiTrust, NIST, CIS, Cloud Security Alliance, etc.
  • Experience with Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery Plans desired.
  • Consulting experience a plus .
