Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are looking for top talent to join our team! We have a full-time opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst on our External Reporting Finance team who supports all of Sobeys/Empire. The role can be based out of our offices in either Stellarton, NS, Dartmouth, NS, Montreal, QC, or Mississauga, ON.

Job Description

What you’ll get to do in this fast-paced role:

  • Work on exciting projects that are planned as part of the investment in analytics and technology
  • Play a leadership role taking accountability of specific finance related areas in various projects
  • Use your subject matter expertise coupled with passion for excellence, to delivery high quality solutions for the Finance function(s)
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of organization, project teams and external partners
  • Conceptualize, translate into functional requirements, and assist in the delivery process with technology partners for the area of reporting in multiple systems (SAP S/4HANA, Khalix and BW)
  • Conduct ad hoc queries and analysis to support business functions and teams as required using advance tools (SAP
  • Analysis for Microsoft Office, Tableau or Query tools)
  • Plan and manage initiatives ensuring swift response to issues for business and stakeholders
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Analyze/interpret periodic financial results and communicate insights
  • Adhere to GAAP and CEO/CFO Certification

Job Requirements What your resume will include and demonstrate to us:

  • Minimum 5 years working experience in, Accounting, Finance, Consulting, or related field
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4HANA, and specifically in Financials
  • Capability in analytics, reporting tools and metrics preferably dealing with large data sets
  • Knowledge of working with disciplined and agile approaches to obtain desired outcomes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office and MS Excel
  • Knowledge of best practices in one or more areas of Financial
  • Reporting, General Accounting, Period End Close, Fixed Assets, Consolidation and Intercompany will be an asset
  • Problem solver that applies principles, such as design thinking, to understand and solve complex problems and improve processes in both creative and innovative ways
  • Involvement in delivery of projects, preferably for full project life cycle
  • Business acumen to identify relevant risks and plan mitigation
  • Project management skills to plan, monitor, manage and report
  • An Undergraduate Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Accounting designation preferred
  • Proficient in GAAP
