Nova Scotia Power has embarked on a new way of working (i.e. Agile) to deliver its cyber security capabilities across all Emera Canadian companies (Nova Scotia Power, Emera Inc., Emera Energy, Emera New Brunswick, and Emera Newfoundland and Labrador). We are currently looking to fill the position of Cyber Security, Compliance Delivery Partner. Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Cyber Security Initiatives, you serve as a key member of the agile teams delivering new cyber security capabilities to confirm prioritization and alignment to the cyber security standards. Your will drive compliance and maturity in an agile environment using a risk-based approach and ensure the cyber security roadmap is aligned with a lower business risk profile. You will also work with the business units to develop a strategy and action plan to ensure they are set up for success for the operationalization of new cyber security capabilities.


The Compliance Delivery Partner leads the strategic opportunity of the agile project by defining and communicating the vision of compliance, accomplished by steering the lifecycle of all agile projects to ensure the final delivered product is aligned to the cyber security standards. As the successful candidate, you will validate that the work produced by agile teams results in a lower business risk profile as well as play a key role in team planning sessions, scrums, retrospectives, sprint reviews, etc. to ensure alignment on vision and value delivery. Further, you will monitor the handover of new cyber security capabilities to the business units and escalate any potential risks to product delivery and/or business readiness.

This leadership role requires an individual with a strong technical background, as well as a keen ability to work with the broader organization to align priorities and plans with key business objectives. As such, you must excel at balancing technology solutions with business drivers such as speed, agility, flexibility, and performance. This role will be well-suited to an experienced risk or compliance professional, legal assistant or researcher, or business analyst with experience in the Cyber Security space interested in maturing our cyber security posture.

You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

You are comfortable using your deep understanding of cyber security standards and best practices, such as ISO 27000 and NIST, to assist in the creation of persuasive policy and procedures to influence security culture. Most of all, you have an in-depth understanding of the inter-relationships of business and information technology, understand regulatory requirements, and work closely with agile product owners to ensure that they understand risks and interpretation and application of cyber security standards.

You hold a bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, information security, engineering or other related discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in an Information Technology related field. Industry recognized certification(s) in information technology risk and security are considered an asset.
