Accountabilities: We are looking for a highly motivated, self-directed individual willing and able to work with limited supervision and in an active team environment. The Civil Engineering Student is accountable to provide technical assistance and support to technical staff.

This work could include assistance with:

  • Substation project development and support.
  • Assist with structural substation design work.
  • Preparation of design drawings for substation civil projects.
  • Assistance with material specification and procurement.
  • Updating civil engineering standards and design guidelines to current industry practices.
  • Assist with field measurement and site visits to understand design parameters.
  • Project management support.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

General Responsibilities:

Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and effective manner.
Create and maintain a work environment based on mutual trust and respect with and among employees, peers, and higher management.
Perform work activities while maintaining a due diligence to ensure that corporate safety, environment and business practices and standards are followed by co-workers, consultants, contractors and the incumbent.
Provide technical support. Carry out new projects and up-grades to support the efficient and cost-effective operation of the company.

The incumbent will be required to provide their own CSA approved safety footwear when traveling to work sites. Additional safety wear and equipment will be provided as required.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience: The successful candidate will have successfully completed a minimum of 2 years of their Civil Engineering degree program. Working knowledge of MS Outlook and other computer applications would be an asset. Driver’s license and personal transportation would also be an asset.
