The Opportunity

FreshBooks is growing and looking for a Business Analyst to help our business units achieve their goals, and enable FreshBookers to do their jobs more effectively. You’ll be doing this by taking ownership over our internal business tools and technologies, and working with stakeholders to define and deliver solutions that meet their business needs, while ensuring they scale with our business. This role sits within the Business Enablement Team, who is responsible for helping to source, prioritize, plan and deliver on work that falls outside of our product roadmap (e.g. tools, technology and department needs).

What you’ll do as a Business Analyst

  • Lead meetings to conduct business requirements gathering and discovery with stakeholders, subject matter experts and end-users
    • Problem definition and analysis, including examining existing processes, tools, and technologies to identify gaps
    • Assess current and future states of need, as well as identify upstream and downstream dependencies
  • Manage requirements conflicts and propose appropriate solutions to the business units
  • Write user stories for future state business processes
  • Oversees User Acceptance phase of initiatives (define strategy, plan, approve test cases, lead all aspects of execution).
  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and fellow technology team members to identify, design and develop solutions to drive revenue growth or cost saving opportunities and address the needs of the business and clients.
  • Engage with the business leaders to develop change management and new feature adoption plans. Includes establishing metrics to measure adoption and assisting with the tracking of those metrics.
  • Conduct insightful, ad hoc, analysis to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues
  • Provide project management support for the implementation of large scale business systems and processes
  • Performs cost and benefit analysis (ROI)
  • Document and construct future state business processes, user flows, and other process documentation
  • Support business case development (e.g. Project Overviews) by detailing-out proposed solution and launch plans
  • Drive towards operational efficiencies, and participate in long term planning to produce the Business Enablement roadmap
    • Examine current and new business procedures to unearth more effective solutions (e.g. research and estimate the costs of any contract upgrades/changes)
    • Identify effective solutions for any existing business software system issues
    • Report common patterns, questions, and other issues to management (i.e. any duplication of existing software and workflows)
    • Devise opportunities to streamline business processes to drive towards operational efficiencies

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Minimum of 3 – 5+ years Business Analysis experience helping to deliver a variety of technology business projects with proven track record of delivery excellence
  • Detail oriented, analytical, problem-solving capabilities and able to develop an approach to decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and control multiple projects, providing regular updates both verbal and in written forms
  • Superior communication skills, allowing the articulate sharing of complex matters, risks and benefits to stakeholders and other technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work with a high degree of detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment •
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing projects
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, balancing their requests against priorities, budget, and resources

You’ll Stand Out If You Bring Experience In

  • Relevant Professional qualifications e.g. CBAP, PMP or Prince 2 certification
  • Prior knowledge or experience of RFI procurement processes
