The Business Analyst is ultimately responsible for the facilitation and elicitation of requirements and documentation of those requirements for a specific project initiative. The Business Analyst creates/defines the business and functional requirements. The Business Analyst validates functional business design documentation, reviews test plans, and verifies system functionality delivered for the project.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the capture, review and update business requirements and communicate to team members
  • Produce deliverables based on Business Lead and SME guidance, including:
  • Business Capability Matrix and other detailed requirements documentation as required
  • Business rules to be captured in metadata layer
  • Communication and training materials (as needed)
  • Support the delivery of the Business Architecture by partnering with stakeholders and functional lead(s) to identify business process issues and capability needs
  • Liaise between technical and non-technical resource team members to answer day to day business questions either directly or indirectly as supported by the Business Leads and SMEs
  • Conduct walkthroughs with project team members and business leads
  • Research change requests and report impacts to the rest of the team
  • Work with QA and Business SMEs (UAT) to ensure requirements traceability and coverage within test cases
  • Enforce project requirement standards, templates, and methods to complete work
  • Promote change management principles with executives, senior leaders, managers, and supervisors to influence, build relationships, and manage resistance
  • Provide support during end user training, prior to production deployments, and post-production deployment on an as- needed basis
  • Work with Claims CIO to provide regular status updates on all Claims initiatives within BTS
  • Engage (with limited capacity) with the business in development of business and capability roadmaps
  • Facilitate grooming and scoring of FIP Claims backlog of maintenance and enhancement items
  • Work directly with the Sr Program Manager NA on any initiatives related to FIP Claims, under the portfolio of work within NA Insurance IT

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Computer Science preferred
  • 3+ years Duck Creek Policy Admin Suite (or similar COTS application) experience preferred (Policy/Billing/Claims Suite)
  • 3+ years Duck Claims Admin System (or similar Claims Admin application) experience required
  • Insurance product rationalization experience preferred
  • Experience developing technical documentation including storyboarding, business requirements, use cases and presentations
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish a rapport with colleagues and business stakeholders alike (required)
  • Proven team player possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills capable of operating in a geographically dispersed environment
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to facilitate, collaborate, influence and drive resolution within a cross-functional organization
  • Proficiency with Software/systems commonly used to manage Programs/Projects (MS
  • Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio, TFS, Azure DevOps, JIRA)
